It was the tragedy that rocked and ultimately shamed Australia. In 1980, Lindy Chamberlain claimed that a dingo had taken her baby and what followed - the inquests, the trial, and her wrongful conviction - is seared into Australia’s collective memory. Not least because of the way a vengeful public so quickly condemned an innocent woman. However much they try, the Chamberlains can never forget the miscarriage of justice that saw Lindy jailed. Nor can they forget Azaria, the daughter they lost and who Lindy was falsely accused of killing. Two decades on, Ray Martin spoke to Lindy and her now-grown up children about how they’ve coped and how they’ve rebuilt their lives. Lindy speaks about her painful divorce from Michael, and of the people who still believe her guilty. And there’s an emotional return to the Rock with Michael, who hopes one day to erect a permanent memorial to Azaria.
