Police in Allen, Tex. provided an update on Tuesday after a gunman stepped out of a silver sedan and opened fire at a Dallas-area outlet mall on Saturday, killing eight and wounding seven before being killed by a police officer who happened to be nearby, authorities said.

Hank Sibley with the Texas Department of Public Safety told reporters that a joint investigation involving police, Texas Rangers, and the FBI is working to determine a motive for the shootings.

police say the shooting, 33-year-old Mauricio Garcia, likely held Neo-Nazi beliefs due to a number of social media posts, tattoos, and other evidence.

That said, police are cautioning that they do not yet have a confirmed motive, and that Garcia may have targeted his victims at random.

Dashcam video circulating online showed the gunman getting out of a car and shooting at people on the sidewalk. More than three dozen shots could be heard as the vehicle that was recording the video drove off.
