Since fighting broke out in Khartoum in April, Sudan’s main port has effectively become its administrative capital.
Port Sudan has taken on new importance with most public buildings in Khartoum now occupied by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia.

Al Jazeera’s Mohamed Vall has more from Port Sudan on the Red Sea, 700km (435 miles) away from the capital Khartoum.
