People in the southeastern coast of New Brunswick began cleaning up Sunday after post-tropical storm Fiona swept through the region, bringing severe flooding and strong winds.
“It was definitely interesting and scary at times. The noise, the wind, the howling, the crashing of things, certain things coming off the house and flying around,” said one resident in Shediac, N.B.
Her home was spared but water levels in the area reached record high levels.
The breakwater and cement slabs were pulled away from the land. The water carried large boulders that used to provide a buffer.
Nathalie Sturgeon has more on the storm’s impact and the recovery efforts.
