South Yorkshire mayor: Scrapping northern leg of HS2 'catastrophe' for the North

HS2 will start at Euston rather than Old Oak Common - but between Birmingham and Manchester it will not be high speed, Sky News understands.

The Labour mayor of South Yorkshire, Oliver Coppard, has told Sky News if this decision is announced it will be a "catastrophe" as it will not allow the North of England to get the infrastructure to grow.
