Has the PM put off scrapping the northern leg of HS2?

Foreign Secretary James Cleverly spoke to Sky News after his speech at the Tory party conference.

The conversation turned to HS2 and he was asked if Prime Minister Rishi Sunak had avoided scrapping the Birmingham to Manchester leg of the high-speed rail line ahead of the annual conference.

Mr Cleverly said it is "worth remembering" that since 2010, the Conservative government have committed £33bn to transport in the North of England.

"It's incredibly important as part of our levelling up agenda", he says.
