A New Zealand couple visiting Toronto as part of a North American road trip say they were booted from a downtown Airbnb by police in the middle of the night after a man claimed the unit was his.
According to Syeda Farhana Shariff and Shariff Masudul Haque, the couple had rented the apartment listed on the Airbnb website and paid more than $4,000 to the company. The couple provided proof they had rented the apartment legally until Aug. 2 and made payment in full, but even after showing the information to police who had been called, the couple was told to leave.
Sean O'Shea spoke with the couple about the ordeal and reports on what Airbnb is saying in response to what happened.
