Two people were violently attacked in separate, random incidents in November 2023 at the Coliseum LRT Station in central Edmonton.

In the first incident on Sunday, Nov. 12, a a 58-year-old man got off the train, boarded a bus and was randomly attacked while looking out a window.

The second incident two weeks later was even worse: on Sunday, Nov. 26, a 55-year-old woman was sitting on a bench waiting for a train when she was allegedly approached by two girls she didn't know and beaten into a coma and left in life-threatening condition.

Morgan Black and Quinn Ohler have team coverage on the attacks and how some on Edmonton city council are calling for fare gates or turnstiles to make transit centres safer.
