Lt. Christopher Zamora with the Houston Department said Thursday that Rudolph “Rudy” Farias had returned home a day after he was reported missing in Texas in 2015, despite reports by his mother that he was still missing.

Farias, now 25, was found around 10 p.m. local time lying on the ground unresponsive in front of a church in south-east Houston.

Police said that his missing person's case had remained open after 2015 but that Rudy and his mother, Janie Santana, had provided police with “fictitious names" when speaking to officers over the course of the eight years.

They say the District Attorney has opted not to lay charges at this time.

Chief Troy Finner added that investigators could not force a “potential victim or missing person” to give a statement but said charges would be laid “if appropriate.”

Houston activist Quanell X, who told reporters he was present during Rudy’s interview with detectives after he was found, accused Rudy’s mother, Janie Santana, of drugging and sexually abusing him during the eight years he was held in the family home.
