Houston community activist Quanell X spoke to the media on Wednesday, hours after missing teen Rudy Farias spoke with Houston detectives. The 25 year-old was found alive last week in Houston, eight years after his mother reported him missing in March 2015. At the time, he was 17 years old and authorities were told he went missing while walking his two dogs in northeast Houston.
Quanell X, who told reporters he was present during the interview, accused Rudy's mother, Janie Santana, of drugging and sexually abusing him during the eight years he was held in the family home. Quanell said Farias ran away but came back home two days later, and that Santana convinced him not to go to the police when he returned.
“The things he told me, I broke down in tears,” Quanell said, alleging that “this boy's been mentally tortured — and physically... That was the house of hell.”
Farias allegedly was found last week when he stole his mother's car to get away from her. Quanell said he ended up crashing the car and that's when he was later found outside of a church in southeast Houston by a good Samaritan.
