Nearly 100,000 Canadians are serving in the armed forces right now, according to Statistics Canada.

There are no active combat operations underway, but the country is engaged in more than 20 different overseas operations, none more urgent than providing support for Ukraine.

Canadian soldiers have taken to the sky to deliver crucial military supplies for Ukrainians, making good on Ottawa's promises in the fight against Russia.

Crystal Goomansingh is on board the plane with the Royal Canadian Air Force for the operation.
