Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) members are expected to speak to media on Wednesday regarding the status of the strike, which encompasses more than 150,000 federal workers across the country.

Federal ministers said they are monitoring for blockades of critical roads and infrastructure Tuesday, as striking federal workers make good on a promise to ramp up their picket efforts by disrupting traffic and limiting access to office buildings in downtown Ottawa.

On Saturday, PSAC president Chris Aylward criticized the federal government amid the union's ongoing strike. He accused Treasury Board President Mona Fortier of "incompetence," after he said a proposed package put forward Thursday that they believed would allow them to reach a deal had not been responded to as of Saturday afternoon.

He said that the "employer" had said Friday morning they would respond to one part of the package — seniority issues — but the union had yet to hear back on any part.

He added that the union's members and bargaining teams were "fed up" and called on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to get involved in the negotiations.
