Pro-Palestinian protesters from the organization 'Jewish Voice for Peace' (JVP) shut down the 110 freeway in downtown Los Angeles, Calif., on Wednesday.
Beginning at 9 a.m., dozens of activists exited their cars, blocked the southbound roadway and called for a ceasefire in Gaza.
The protests came as more than 18,500 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza over the past two months, according to figures from the Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry.
In retaliation for Hamas militants' Oct. 7 attack on Israel, which Israel says killed approximately 1,200 civilians, Israel has launched airstrikes and ground offensives on the Palestinian enclave.
