The protest in Beita came in response to the construction of a new Israeli settlement there, and as a result of Hamas's call for a ‘Day of Rage’ after Israeli soldiers shot Palestinian earlier this week. The protest also coincides with the eve of Naksa Day which marks the anniversary of the mass displacement of Palestinians after the 1967 Six-Day war.
