Polish guards remove two migrants from hospital, use water cannons in standoff on border

Polish border guards removed two migrants from a hospital in the small town of Bielsk Podlaski on Friday.

On the border, Belarusian state TV published footage of Polish law enforcement officers using water cannons on migrants on Tuesday while gathering at the Bruzgi-Kuznica checkpoint.

Poland accused Belarus on Friday of trucking hundreds of migrants back to the border and pushing them to attempt to cross illegally, only hours after clearing camps at the frontier.

The European Union says the crisis is orchestrated by Belarus - an ally of Russia - in retaliation for EU sanctions imposed over a crackdown on political protests, a charge that Minsk denies.
