Canada’s Conservative Party Leader Pierre Poilievre gave remarks and criticized Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at the beginning of a Tory caucus meeting on Sunday, ahead of Parliament's return on Monday.

“Housing costs have risen 40 per cent faster than incomes under Trudeau, which is by far the worst in the G7,” Poilievre said. “It is a problem that he created with his inflationary spending, and by continually building up the local bureaucracies that block homebuilding, he has made us the second slowest place to get a building permit on planet Earth.”

“[Canadians] don't have to live like this. They don't have to give up the things they used to take for granted, like affordable food and homes, safe neighbourhoods,” Poilievre said. “Conservatives will fight throughout this session to axe the tax, build the homes, fix the budget [and] stop the crime.”

Last week, Liberal MPs held three days of caucus meetings in Ottawa to plan for the return of the House of Commons, and to shore up party morale after recent polls suggested that as many as half of the Liberal leaders would lose their seats if an election were held today.
