During a press conference in New Westminster, B.C. on Tuesday, Conservative Party Leader Pierre Poilievre blamed the Trudeau government for "allowing" big pharma to play a role in the opioid epidemic.

"These powerful multinationals knew exactly what they were doing, but they kept doing it anyway to profit themselves and their wealthy executives," he said. "They destroyed thousands of lives."

He said if elected prime minister, he'd launch over $40 billion in lawsuits against big pharmaceutical companies to recoup health-care costs. Poilievre added that he is against decriminalizing drugs and is against safe consumption sites because in his view, they don't promote recovery.

Poilievre also touched upon several other topics, including Chinese foreign interference in elections, affordable housing, air travel complaints and more.
