Conservative Party of Canada leader Pierre Poilievre spoke for hours in Canada's House of Commons Wednesday evening in an attempt to delay passage of the Liberal government's budget bill.

Poilievre spoke in the House of Commons until nearly midnight. His speech touched on a number of historical figures, including Sir Winston Churchill and John Maynard Keynes.

Earlier that week, the Conservative leader said his party would do all it could to block the passage of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's budget, which they view as incurring too much debt and not doing enough to address inflation.

"If the government does not [our] demands, we will use all procedural tools at our disposal to block the budget from passing, including 900 amendments, lengthy speeches and other procedural tools that are in our toolkit," Poilievre said Monday.
