Ottawa's predicted 5 years to break even on battery plant subsidies 'unrealistic,' PBO says

It will take 20 years for the federal and Ontario governments to break even on the $28.2 billion in production subsidies pledged to Volkswagen and Stellantis for EV battery plants, according to a report released Tuesday by the parliamentary budget officer.
