Ottawa woman is 3rd Canadian dead in Israel attack, family says

Speaking to journalists in Ottawa on Wednesday, President and CEO of Jewish Federations of Ottawa Andrea Freedman said that Adi Vital-Kaploun, 33, was an Israeli-Canadian killed by Hamas militants in Israel.

“Her love was like a ray of sunshine, warming the people around her with her smile, her warmth and compassion,” Freedman said, reading out a statement on behalf of the family.

“We want the world to remember Adi for who she was, not for how she was brutally taken from her family, from her friends, and how society will never benefit from the myriad of contributions that she still had to give,” Freedman said.

Foreign Affairs Minister Melanie Joly told reporters Wednesday morning in Ottawa that “three Canadians are dead” and three others are missing, but the assistant deputy minister for consular, security and emergency management clarified shortly after that two deaths are confirmed, while a third is presumed at this point.
