The family of an Israeli woman with ties to Canada share their grief after she was killed when Hamas gunmen stormed a music festival in Israel, setting the stage for the brutal Oct. 7 attack that killed about 1,200 people.

Tiferet Lapidot was one of the more than 260 people that were killed at the Nova music festival.

“She was just a youngster participating in a party, a peace party,” her uncle told Global News.

Lapidot had applied for citizenship in Canada, and the file was in progress when she disappeared. She was initially thought to have been kidnapped but was eventually confirmed dead.

Caryn Lieberman shares her family’s story.
