Canadian Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos and Intergovernmental Affairs Minister Dominic LeBlanc spoke on Thursday regarding health-care investments with the provinces and territories, two weeks after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced the proposed federal deal.

Minister LeBlanc told the press conference while many of the province's health-care needs are similar, the solutions are different and unique for each jurisdiction.

Earlier on Thursday, Ontario and the federal government said they had reached a deal in principle on health care. The province says the agreement allows them to begin further discussions on how the health-care money will be spent. The four Atlantic provinces have also reached a similar deal.

Two weeks ago, Ottawa put forward $196 billion in a 10-year funding package for the provinces and territories, of which $46 billion was new money, including to support, retain and recruit health workers.
