Northwest Territories residents have evacuated after out-of-control wildfires — but not everyone can leave under their own power.

Yellowknife's hospital is the centre of the territory's acute care system and first responders are doing what they can to help.

Evacuating a hospital or medical centre to keep patients safe from wildfires is a complex and potentially risky procedure, according to two people involved in past closures. They said it involves planning, practice, and adaptability.
