A growing number of Ontario patients are accessing private primary care from nurse practitioners because they don’t have a family doctor — but it comes at a cost. Clinics typically charge patients $70 to $90 for a single appointment because, unlike physicians, nurse practitioners cannot bill the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) for their services.
