Niger coup leaders announce measures to avoid sanctions

Niger’s military council has dismissed the director of the customs service and the tax authority, and announced taxes will be collected in cash.
The import and export traders’ association has confirmed receiving instructions to pay all funds received directly to the treasury, bypassing banks. It is part of measures to sidestep sanctions, which are already making life difficult for Nigeriens.
