Nicola Sturgeon's husband Peter Murrell charged in connection with embezzlement of funds

The husband of the dominant figure in Scottish politics of the last decade Nicola Sturgeon, has been charged after a long running investigation into the alleged embezzlement of funds.

Mr Murrell was questioned by detectives after being taken into Police Scotland custody on Thursday. He has since been released.

Peter Murrell has been Nicola Sturgeon's partner for more than two decades. During that time, he has also served as the SNP's chief executive.
