The New York State Assembly's Judiciary Committee met on Monday to address impeachment proceedings against Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

This was the first meeting of the judiciary committee since Attorney General Letitia James detailed the results of her investigation into sexual misconduct claims made against the governor.

The report found that Cuomo groped, kissed or made suggestive comments to 11 women in violation of the law, prompting local prosecutors to launch a criminal investigation and re-igniting calls for him to resign or be impeached.

Committee Chair Charles Lavine told a press conference following the meeting that the committee will review evidence, recommend whether to impeach Cuomo within "several weeks."

Lavine said the governor will have an opportunity to address several issues during the process including allegations of sexual harassment, using public resources to write his book, preferential access to COVID-19 testing allegations and any other issues he wishes to address.

Cuomo has denied any wrongdoing in light of the sexual misconduct allegations, though he has acknowledged that his efforts to be affectionate with people he encounters may have made some people uncomfortable.
