According to Ipsos polling done exclusively for Global News, 25 per cent of Canadians say they feel unsafe taking public transit alone —especially in Toronto.
Plus, three in 10 say they're more aware of their surroundings, and two in 10 report they avoid travelling at night.
"People want to see action," Ipsos Public Affairs CEO Darrell Bricker said, referring to transit authorities taking steps to ensure the safety of travellers amid multiple crimes on transit systems coming to light.
Bricker adds people are extra vigilant because they're hearing about crimes on transit more in the recent news.
