Quebec public health officials reported 132 confirmed cases of monkeypox across the province as of Tuesday, with the majority being found in Montreal.

According to officials, 126 of the infections are located in Montreal with Dr. Mylène Drouin, the city's public health director, calling it the "epicentre."

The city also announced new criteria for accessing the vaccine. She said before they were offering vaccinations to people who were contacts of those exposed to monkeypox, but now are doing it in a pre-exposure way. Drouin said men who may have a sexual relationship with other men during the summer or next few weeks or months can receive the vaccination.

Drouin also said that they believe they may have had a "superspreader" event linked with "the other outbreaks that were in the U.K., Belgium and other European cities."
