Speaking on Monday, Canada’s Crown-Indigenous Relations Minister Marc Miller slammed a verbal attack on Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland in Alberta on Friday as “garbage” and said it was not only an attack on her personally but on “democracy.”
Miller said despite working with some of the “most currently and historically oppressed peoples” in Canada, he’s never “been spoken to in that tone.”
The minister also spoke about the role of the government in addressing hate and bigotry, saying “we can always do better.”
