Migrants: Labour accuses govt of 'tweaking around the edges' with housing plan

Shadow armed forces minister Luke Pollard MP says that the government is not dealing with "the fundamental problem" by seeking to house migrants in old military facilities.

Mr Pollard said that the asylum system is "broken", with decisions taking too long and unsuccessful applicants often not being sent home.

Labour would set out to "fast track" migrants from safe countries such as Albania to reduce the backlog he said, with only 1% of asylum cases being decided last year.
