Michigan State University (MSU) students on Tuesday recounted the fear they felt during the shooting that left three fellow classmates dead and five injured on Monday night when a 43-year-old gunman started shooting on the campus.

"We were scared to go by the windows," sophomore Caroline Adams told a reporter. "We didn't want to be seen. We didn't want to be potentially targeted through the windows."

Investigators said they have no idea why the suspect went on a rampage on campus and confirmed the man had no known affiliation to the university.

Dr. Denny Martin, the interim president of E.W. Sparrow Hospital, where the injured were taken, broke down in tears as he spoke about how quickly so many health officials reached out to say they were coming in to help.

U.S. President Joe Biden also spoke about the incident during an address at the National Association of Counties, saying gun violence had to stop and it was "happening far too often in this country."
One student, Jarrett Maki, also spoke about an email sent out to all students and staff in the MSU Network, saying the message which said, "Run, Hide, Fight," caused a "moment" when he and his roommates realized the incident was something serious.

The gunman was found dead in Lansing, west of the city of East Lansing where the university is located, of a self-inflicted gun wound.
