Many more people are being investigated by the Gambling Commission over allegations of betting on the date of the election, Sky News understands.

Nick Mason, the Conservative Party's chief data officer, is the latest Tory to be investigated for bets placed prior to Prime Minister Rishi Sunak calling the general election.

The commission is also investigating whether people with insider knowledge asked a third party to place a bet on their behalf.
