'Incompetent and deluded': Voters give their views amid Tory betting probe | General Election

Sky News has asked its Voters Panel their views on the election campaign so far with one saying the options range from '"completely incompetent" through to "downright deluded".

It comes as the Gambling Commission says it is looking into allegations around bets made on the date of the election.

A Conservative spokesman said: “We have been contacted by the Gambling Commission about a small number of individuals. As the Gambling Commission is an independent body, it wouldn’t be proper to comment further, until any process is concluded.”

In a statement on X, Mr Williams said: "I've been contacted by a journalist about Gambling Commission inquiries into one of my accounts and thought it best to be totally transparent. I put a flutter on the General Election some weeks ago. This has resulted in some routine inquiries and I confirm I will fully co-operate with these."

In a statement Laura Saunders' solicitor said: "As the Conservative Party has already stated, investigations are ongoing. Ms Saunders will be cooperating with the Gambling Commission and has nothing further to add."
