Heavy snow and high winds forced the closure of area highways in Manitoba as a blizzard blew through the province on Feb. 1.

The cold weather also left one Manitoba man less than impressed over the weekend when he had to hang laundry that was frozen ahead of the storm, making for quite the difficult task. Though his son, Clayton Klyne, said it's something he's used to and often hangs laundry in the winter.

Environment Canada issued blizzard warnings for several southeastern parts of Manitoba and reported wind gusts between 70 and 90 km/h (43-56 mph). Conditions were expected to improve Tuesday afternoon, the department said.
