Localized handgun bans won't be as effective as a national one, says mayor

John Taylor, mayor of Newmarket, Ont., said he would prefer a national handgun ban. Proposed gun control legislation put forward by the Liberal government would permit cities to ban handguns, but it remains unclear whether the new measures would succeed in reducing gun crime.
