Israeli military says ground troops launched 'localized raids' into Gaza | DW News⁣

The Israeli military says its ground forces have begun to make small-scale raids into Gaza.⁣

"Over the past 24 hours, IDF forces carried out localized raids inside the territory of the Gaza Strip to complete the effort to cleanse the area of terrorists and weaponry," the military said in a statement.⁣
⁣
"During these operations, there was also an effort to locate missing persons," it said. Israel's military said that infantry and tank units took part in the operations. The raids are being made ahead of an expected larger-scale ground offensive.⁣

Militant Islamist group Hamas launched an unprecedented terror attack on Israel from Gaza last weekend. In response, the Israeli military launched a barrage of airstrikes on the Gaza Strip and has put the territory under siege.
