Drone footage released by Spain's Geological and Mining institute (IGME) on Tuesday showed massive red-hot lava streams continuing to flow from La Palma's Cumbre Vieja volcano, which has been erupting for seven weeks.

The footage from IGME and Spain's Superior Council of Scientific Investigations (CSIC) shows “cascades of lava” falling into holes produced by the collapsing volcanic tubes, and torrents of molten rocks flowing fast through the various lava streams.

Spain's military emergency unit also measured air quality at nearby sites on Monday as a plume of ash and sulfur dioxide prompted an air quality warning.

Since the eruption began on Sept. 19, lava from the volcano has covered nearly 900 hectares of land and destroyed more than 2,500 buildings, forcing more than 7,000 people to evacuate.
