Israel must do everything it can 'to protect innocent Palestinians', says Labour

It is "absolutely essential that whilst Israel has the right to defend itself, it must act within international law and do everything humanly possible to protect innocent Palestinians", says Liz Kendall, Labour's shadow work and pensions secretary.

Ms Kendall said "it is not right for us to call for a ceasefire now" but maintained that Labour MPs who defy party line on Gaza ceasefire won't face action.
