A representative for Israel slammed the United Nations (UN) during a General Assembly meeting on Tuesday, which was focused on discussing the unfolding crisis in the Middle East.

Israel's representative Reut Shapir Ben Naftaly accused the UN of having a "twisted, anti-Israel bias," and that the body "completely ignores Hamas."

Meanwhile, UN Palestinian permanent observer Riyad H. Mansour said that "only a truce" can begin to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, and that the truce "must turn into a permanent ceasefire."

According to reports, Israel and Hamas are preparing for a fourth exchange of militant-held hostages for Palestinians imprisoned by Israel, as both sides agreed to extend the ceasefire in Gaza until Wednesday.

Eleven Israeli women and children freed by Hamas entered Israel Monday night in the fourth swap under the original four-day truce. In turn, Israel released 33 Palestinian prisoners early on Tuesday.
