Hundreds of people gathered in Tehran, Iran on Friday to mark the second anniversary of the death of top Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani, who was killed in a drone strike by the U.S. in Iraq on Jan. 3, 2020.
During the event in Tehran, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Aerospace Force Cmdr. Amir Ali Hajizadeh issued a warning to the U.S. that two years later "revenge will continue" for the killing of the general.
On Saturday, thousands of supporters of an Iraqi Shi'ite paramilitary group backed by Iran also gathered in Baghdad, Iraq to mark the anniversary. A member of paramilitary group Asaib Ahl Al-haq warned Americans that they were "delusional" if they believed the killing of Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, who also died in the drone strike, would take away Iraq's sovereignty.
