Israel is facing growing calls to change its strategy to wipe out Hamas, as close to 20,000 people have been killed in Gaza since the militant group’s Oct. 7 attacks that left 1,200 dead in south Israel.

According to the Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry, 70 per cent of those deaths have been women and children.
