A tsunami warning has been issued as a precautionary measure, following a spike in volcanic activity at Mount Ruang in Sulawesi, Indonesia on Wednesday.
The country's volcanology agency has raised the alert status and widened the evacuation zone, with at least 800 people already evacuated.
In addition, a provincial airport on Sulawesi has been closed due to explosive plumes of lava, rocks and ash emitted by the Ruang volcano.
"The 33 cancelled flights consist of 18 arrivals and 15 departures, and consist of passenger aircrafts, cargo aircrafts and charter flights," an airport authority official said.
