The latest shots from Iceland as smoke rises from the ground on an Icelandic peninsula and thousands of residents of Grindavik are evacuated amid a warning that everything points to a volcanic eruption in the coming days.
The fishing town of Grindavik, home to 3,000 people, has been ordered to evacuate amid concerns it could be destroyed by lava flows
Around 800 earthquakes have been measured in Iceland since midnight, according to the Icelandic Met Office (IMO). The meteorological body said the situation remained unchanged, with seismic activity having been constant since 11 November.
The bulk of the 800 earthquakes felt were mostly measured in Sundhnuk - north of Grindavik - at a depth of about 3-5 km.
The IMO said the probability of an eruption was still considered "high". If an eruption does occur, it is likely to come from the magma corridor.
