Police provided an update after news that three boys, aged eight, 10 and 11, have died in Solihull after falling into a frozen lake. Another boy, aged six, remains in a critical condition.

Richard Harris, of West Midlands Police, said searches will continue at Babbs Mill Lake in Solihull until they are "absolutely certain" there is no one else in the water.

He also confirmed that officers had attempted to "punch through the ice" and one had suffered "mild hypothermia" in his efforts to save the children.
