Just 20 minutes after 72-year-old Huu Can Tran killed 10 people at the Star Ballroom Dance Studio in Monterey Park on the eve of Lunar New Year, he entered the Lai Lai Ballroom & Studio dance club in the neighbouring city of Alhambra.
Brandon Tsay, who was working at the family business, describes what happened when the gunman entered the Alhambra dance club and how he found the courage to act.
"Something came over me. I realized I needed to get the weapon away from him. I needed to take this weapon, disarm him, or else everybody would have died."
Tsay wrestled the weapon away from the shooter before he could get a shot off, saying that the gunman fled the scene after the struggle.
