Haunting drone footage of the Greek island of Rhodes on Thursday showed the coast, cliffs and land scorched by wildfires that have raged for more than a week and led to the mass evacuation of tourists.

While some buildings near Kiotari seemed to have been miraculously spared by the flames, others were totally destroyed and tourist resorts and hotels were now encircled by charred ground and

Although the blazes were less fierce on Rhodes on Wednesday firefighters were still battling fires close to a mountainous area south of the island.
