On this episode: Nowhere is the Alberta leadership race closer right now than it is in "battleground Calgary." This is especially true in the suburban neighbourhood of the city's south. Heather Yourex-West spent the day door-knocking in two key ridings, where a victory there could determine which party wins the whole election.
Voters in Turkey have decided to stay with the man who has led the country for the past twenty years – Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Despite rampant inflation and controversy over his handling of this year's earthquakes, the incumbent president has been declared the winner of Turkey's runoff election. Redmond Shannon takes a look at how he did it and what it could mean for Turkey.
In Ukraine, Kyiv has just endured Russia's largest drone attack of the conflict yet. For hours, more than 50 Iranian-made drones rained down on the city, according to defence officials. As Touria Izri reports, most were shot down, but one person was killed in the attack.
Plus, former Calgary mayor Naheed Nenshi endorsed NDP Leader Rachel Notley, even showing up at a campaign event with her. In the past, he has been careful not to publicly back and party. But, this time, he tells Global's Dawna Friesen about why he couldn't remain silent. Meanwhile, former prime minister Stephen Harper backed UCP's Danielle Smith.
And for decades, the Conservatives ruled Alberta. There has only been an NDP government once. In theory, this election should be an easy win for Danielle Smith's United Conservative Party. But if the polls are right, it's a tight race. How might Albertans vote in the provincial election tomorrow?
