Global National: June 11, 2023 | Wildfire threatening Alberta town explodes in size

A wildfire inching closer to the town of Edson, Alta., west of Edmonton, has exploded in size, growing 55 per cent in just 24 hours. Residents have had to flee their homes for the second time in a month. Approximately one-third of the 75 wildfires in Alberta are out of control and more than 11,000 people across the province are now displaced. Erica Vella reports.

In B.C., cooler conditions and shifting winds are helping firefighters gain the upper hand in the community of Tumbler Ridge, where about 2,400 people were told to evacuate on Thursday. Rumina Daya has more on the situation there.

In the U.S., Donald Trump is preparing for his arraignment on Tuesday as the first former president to be federally indicted. He faces dozens of severe charges for over 100 classified national security files he allegedly kept after leaving office. Jackson Proskow reports.
