Boris Johnson has announced England will enter another national lockdown as of midnight on Monday in order to control the rapid spread of coronavirus. (Subscribe: https://bit.ly/C4_News_Subscribe)
The prime minister set out plans for mass school closures and restrictive measures similar to the first lockdown in March 2020.
Speaking from Downing Street, Boris Johnson said the “weeks ahead will be hardest yet”.
He added: “Hospitals are under more pressure from Covid than at any time since the start of the pandemic.”
The announcement comes as the UK reached another new record of 58,784 cases in 24 hours on Monday.
